Aqua-Strip

TYPES OF PAINT REMOVED: Aqua-Strip can remove most varieties of marine paints & varnishes including anti-fouling, polyurethanes, enamels, teak oils, non-skid deck, latex, etc. Unlike other strippers, Aqua-Strip can remove more difficult coatings such as urethanes.
SURFACES: Aqua-Strip can be applied on a multitude of bottom and top-side surfaces including fiberglass (will not damage the gel coat), wood (it will not discolor the wood or raise the grain), aluminum, etc. It is non-corrosive and will not pit aluminum or damage any metal. It also works on plaster, masonry , marble , and brick surfaces. Aqua-Strip is not to be used on sheetrock, plastic, rubber or linoleum surfaces.

INSTRUCTIONS:
A. Preparation
- Mask any areas not being stripped with plastic and masking tape.

B. Application - Aqua-Strip is applied to the surface at a total of approximately 1/32" thick (30 mils) with a brush, roller, putty knife or sprayer. Can be sprayed effectively using an airless sprayer DRILL MIX BEFORE SPRAYING - REMOVE FILTERS FROM SPRAYER & GUN (Use at least a 1 GPM piston sprayer, .019 - .021 spray tip), A wet mil gauge should be used to measure thickness.

1.Test Patch -- Since it is often hard to know the type or the amount of paint on a surface, a small test area should be stripped to determine the proper application and dwell time needed for paint removal .

2. Apply the stripper approximately 1/32" thick (30 mils) to the surface. The patch then should be checked for dwell time as follows (only a portion at any one time): Check the patch first at 1/2 - 4 hours, then periodically thereafter. As a rule of thumb, the greater the layers of paint, the longer the product should be left on. Due to the nature of certain paints such as two part urethanes, Aqua-Strip may need more time to be effective. It can stay wet for 24 hours or longer.

3. Use a wide putty knife to lift the paint off broad surfaces or a stiff bristle brush for detailed areas. Use a stiff bristle brush or stripping pad with Ready-Strip Wash Paint Remover Wash or light amounts of water to remove any residue.

4. For best results -- Apply at temps between 60 ºF and 80 ºF. Product activity is reduced below a temp. of 60 ºF and may require additional dwell time. If product freezes let thaw and stir vigorously until product is consistent. Coverage varies between 50 and 75+ sq. ft. per gal. No Neutralization required. Clean-up with water. Any residue should be removed in a short period of time. Misting the applied area with Ready-Strip Wash or water prior to removal makes lifting of the paint easier. Misting also reactivates the product if it feels dry.

5. Caution: a) When you are removing bottom paint, but do not wish to remove the epoxy bottom coat, care should be taken to remove Aqua-Strip and the bottom paint before it penetrates the epoxy barrier coat. A test area will determine the proper dwell and removal time. b) Boats whose gel-coats show excessive wear or deterioration may be affected by some paint removal. Do a test to determine acceptability . c) Use Lift-n-Strip as an alternative in circumstance a) or b).

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS: Safety goggles are recommended for eye protection. Protective gloves such as butyl rubber, neoprene gloves are also recommended. Maintain adequate ventilation especially in confined areas. If spraying or misting is expected use NIOSH approved chemical cartridge (organic vapor) respiratory equipment (full face respirator recommended). In case of inhalation - remove victim to fresh air and provide oxygen if breathing is difficult. In case of eye contact - flush exposed areas with large quantities of water. In case of skin contact - wash skin with soap and water. Use emollient skin creams. In case of ingestion - do not induce vomiting. Call physician immediately
