TYPES OF PAINT REMOVED: Ready-Strip® Marine can remove most varieties of marine paints & varnishes including anti-fouling, polyurethanes, enamels, teak oils, non-skid deck, latex, etc. Unlike other strippers, Ready-Strip® Marine can remove more difficult coatings such as urethanes.
SURFACES: Ready-Strip® Marine can be applied on a multitude of bottom and topside surfaces including fiberglass, wood (it will not discolor the wood or raise the grain), aluminum, etc. It is non-corrosive and will not pit aluminum or damage any metal. It also works on plaster, masonry, marble, and brick surfaces. Ready-Strip® Marine is not to be used on sheetrock, plastic, rubber or linoleum surfaces. |

INSTRUCTIONS:
A. Test Patch -- Since it is often hard to know the type or the amount of paint on a surface, a small test area should be done to determine suitability and dwell time needed for paint removal.
B. Preparation -- Mask any areas not being stripped with plastic and masking tape.
C. Application & Removal -- Apply Ready-Strip® Marine generously to the surface with a brush, medium nap paint roller, or putty knife, so that Ready-Strip® Marine completely covers the color of the paint being stripped (about 1/32" thickness). Do not spread thin like paint. A wet mil gauge can be used to measure thickness. Ready-Strip® Marine will cover approx. 50 sq. ft. per gallon. For best results apply at temperatures between 60º F and 80º F. When the
stripper turns light blue, (off-white), it may form an eggshell like skin that locks in the stripping action. Misting the surface with Ready-Strip Wash Paint Remover Wash or water before stripping helps ease removal. When ready, (at color change or after), use a wide putty knife to lift the paint off broad surfaces or a stiff bristle brush for detailed areas. Use a stiff bristle brush or stripping pad with Ready-Strip Wash Paint Remover Wash or light amounts of water to remove any residue. Color change usually occurs within 4 to 24 hours but will be greatly accelerated by warmer temperatures. Paint and varnish removal make take place prior to "Color Change", although the "Color Change" will indicate the end of stripping action
D. Removal Time -- When working indoors or in cooler temperatures, Ready-Strip® Marine can stay wet for 24 hours or longer. If drying out prematurely, mist with Ready-Strip Wash Paint Remover Wash or water. Product activity is reduced below 60º F and may require additional dwell time. If product freezes let thaw and stir vigorously until product is consistent. No Neutralization required. Clean-up with water. Any residue should be removed in a short period of time. Misting the applied area with Ready-Strip Wash or water before removal makes lifting of the paint easier. Misting also reactivates the product if it feels dry. Reapply Ready-Strip® Marine over itself to reactivate stubborn areas.
E. Caution: a) When removing bottom paint, but do not wish to remove the epoxy bottom coat, care should be taken to remove Ready-Strip® Marine and the bottom paint before it penetrates the epoxy barrier coat. A test area will determine the proper dwell and removal time. b) Boats whose gel-coats show excessive wear or deterioration may be affected by some paint removal. Do a test to determine acceptability. c) Use Back To Nature Lift-n-Strip Marine as an alternative in circumstance a) or b).
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS: For eye and skin protection, rubber gloves and safety glasses are recommended. Avoid eye contact. In case of eye contact, immediately flush with plenty of water for 15 minutes. Avoid prolonged and repeated contact with skin. If skin contact occurs, wash with soap and water. Maintain adequate ventilation especially in confined areas. If spraying is expected use NIOSH approved chemical cartridge (organic vapor) respirators. If swallowed, due not induce vomiting. Give 1 or 2 glasses of water and call a physician immediately. |
