TYPES OF PAINT REMOVED: Tough2-Strip can remove most varieties of marine paints & varnishes including anti-fouling, polyurethanes, enamels, teak oils, non-skid deck, latex etc. Unlike other strippers, it can remove more difficult coatings such as urethanes.
SURFACES: Tough2-Strip can be applied on a multitude of bottom and topside surfaces including fiberglass, wood (it will not discolor or raise the grain), aluminum, etc. It is non-corrosive and will not pit or damage any metal. Tough2-Strip will also remove coatings from plaster, masonry, marble and brick surfaces. They are not to be used on sheetrock, plastic, rubber or linoleum surfaces.

INSTRUCTIONS:
A. Preparation - Mask any areas not being stripped with plastic and masking tape
B. Application - For multiple layers or tough coatings apply Tough2-Strip to the surface at a total of approximately 1/32" thick (30 mils) with a brush, roller, putty knife or sprayer. It can be sprayed effectively using an airless sprayer. DRILL MIX BEFORE SPRAYING REMOVE FILTERS FROM SPRAYER & GUN (Use at least a 1 GPM piston sprayer, .019 - .021 spray tip), A wet mil gauge should be used to measure thickness. For stripping 3 4 layers of paint quickly, apply Tough-2-Strip to the surface at a total of approximately 15 mils thick.
1. Test Patch - Since it is often hard to know the type or the amount of paint on a surface, a small test area should be stripped to determine the proper application and dwell time needed for paint removal.
2. Apply the stripper to a number of test areas at varying thickness between 15 and 30 mils. The patch then should be checked for dwell time as follows (only a portion at any one time): Check the patch first at 1/2 - 4 hours, then periodically thereafter. As a rule of thumb, the greater the layers of paint, the longer the product should be left on. Due to the nature of certain paints such as two part urethanes, the strippers may need more time to be effective. The strippers can stay wet for 24 hours or longer.
3. Use a wide putty knife to lift the paint off broad surfaces or a stiff bristle brush for detailed areas. Use a stiff bristle brush or stripping pad with Ready-Strip Wash Paint Remover Wash or light amounts of water to remove any residue .
4. Note: Misting the applied area with Ready-Strip Wash or water prior to removal makes lifting of the paint or varnish easier. Misting also reactivates the product if it feels dry to the touch. Any residue left on a surface should be removed within a short period of time so that residue will not dry up and re-adhere.
5. For best results apply Tough2-Strip at temps between 60 ºF and 80 ºF. Product activity is reduced below a temperature of 60 ºF and may require additional dwell time before all layers of paint are removed. If product freezes let thaw and stir vigorously until product is consistent. Coverage at 30 mils varies between 50 and 75+ sq. ft. per gal. depending upon the type and amount of paint on a surface. Coverage at 15 mils varies between 100 and 125 sq. ft. per gal. No Neutralization is required. Clean-up with water.
6. Caution:
a. When you are removing bottom paint, but do not wish to remove the epoxy bottom coat, care should be taken to remove Tough2-Strip and the bottom paint before it penetrates the epoxy barrier coat. A test area will help you determine the proper dwell and removal time.
b. Boats whose gel-coats show excessive wear or deterioration may be affected some paint removal. Be certain to test for excessive wear of gel-coat before applying stripper to determine acceptability. In these circumstances, particular care should be taken to remove Tough2-Strip and the bottom paint before if it affects the surface.
c. An alternative stripper that can be used under circumstance a) or b) above, is Back To Nature Lift-N-Strip Marine.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS: Safety goggles are recommended for eye protection. Protective gloves such as butyl rubber or neoprene gloves are also recommended. Maintain adequate ventilation especially in confined areas. If spraying or misting is expected use NIOSH approved chemical cartridge (organic vapor) respiratory equipment (full-face respirator recommended). In case of inhalation - remove victim to fresh air and provide oxygen if breathing is difficult. In case of eye contact - flush exposed areas with large quantities of water. In case of skin contact - wash skin with soap and water. Use emollient skin creams. In case of ingestion - do not induce vomiting. Call physician immediately.
